ACCRA CHURCH
The Jubilee Assembly workforce received a rapt attention this year and this happened in two phases.
- Leadership development for the youth
- Training women in the church
Leadership development for the youth is geared towards the emergence of vibrant leaders of the church. This spotlighted the individual calling and gifting. Eight brethren are going through the training, six males and two females.
TRAINING WOMEN IN THE CHURCH
This training hinges on hospitality and role of women in building the local assembly.
A month extension of the workforce training was coordinated last year. The reason for this worker training initiative is to build an effective evangelistic team for community outreach and this has started to show sparks of the fruits in trickles.
CHURCH BUILDING PROJECT
The hard times economically, are with us as a country. The Lord has proved to be our sustainer.
We are building in stages. The current stage is raising the top pillars for the roofing works.
We are earnestly praying for the release of abundant resources for the roofing project to take place before the rains come.
ONLINE RELATIONSHIP SEMINAR
The Lord has been faithful and of a tremendous help in our annual youth camp on the missions field.
This has been going on for almost 10 years. Some of the fruits of the years past are now graduates and undergraduates in the tertiary institutions.
An outline tutoring for three of these young brethren who are at the verge of getting married became pertinent, so an online seminar on relationship for them began.
When contacted, they were so excited about it. One of them, a teacher, invited another young man from the Assemblies of God Church to join the seminar. The four of them were consistent as they went through the seminar once a week and this lasted for seven weeks.
They were deeply impacted. One of them testified that the seminar has created an awareness of the consequences of wrong choice and that he has learnt wisdom that will help him to build a sustainable marriage. Another testified that he has now seen the necessity to involve God in his marriage decision and not just be informed by the opposite sex’s attraction or culture.
Oda Church
The church in Oda has passed through thick and thin in recent time and this is due to lack of a competent leader/ Pastor. This has greatly affected the stability of the church. Members of the church have had to call severally asking for an outside pastor to come and help the church.
The challenge necessitated Rev. Appiah to embark on what he called “Recovery Mission.”
This mission is to bring the church to a state of self- governing, self-supporting and self – propagating. This recovery mission’s initiative started in January and stretched to a period of three days of fasting and intensive prayer and as well as teachings. This is still ongoing with a monthly visit to the church.
Mission Field Trips
A trip to Binabribdo D/A Primary School in the Nkwanta North District was embarked upon in the month of February. It was about an hour’s journey through the thicket, close to the Togo border. The school had a pupil population of about 50 students.
One peculiar thing in this community is that the community does not have a single church in it. And so Brother Robert ministered to these children who were all not going to church. By the end of the outreach, all the children surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ.
Follow up efforts and planting a church there is on our priority list.
- Missions’field trips continued in the month of March 2023. This time, it was to Azua D/A Primary School to join them in their Wednesday worship service. We shared some gospel tracts with them and ministered to 70 pupils. About 10 children gave their lives to Christ. We had the opportunity to visit Binabribdo D/A Primary School again. We revisited to distribute some Bible to the students but when we got there, not even a single student was found in class.
- The whole school was not in session for a queer reason. We were told that they had a funeral engagement in the community and so most of the children were needed to run errands; teaching and learning were not effective for a whole week due to the funeral.
- Since we had come a long way to the community and we did not want to go back without doing anything, we engaged some of the children in the community. We taught them songs and gave them Bibles.
- About 30 of them were given Bibles and admonished to read them. We prayed with them and left. We hope as we pray for them, that these Bibles will be tools through which God will speak to them.
Discipleship and House Church Meeting
Our house church at Binyordando has been consistent. Although some people dropped out, most of them still come for the meetings. In February 2023, we finished the teaching series on repentance and baptism. Some of them have testified of changes in their lives since they joined the house church. One testified of how he was feeling pains in his hand, but now he is much better. Another attendant testified of how he was living the life of a vagabond but now he is having a change of mind. Lastly, one young man from Togo testified that he had stopped going to church while he was in Togo. But now he can observe that his interest in God has been renewed as a result of attending the meetings.
Jumbo #2 Churc H
The church at Jumbo #2 is also seeing steady progress. The elderly women are coming sturdily while some of the young girls are also growing sturdily in their commitment. Now these young girls numbering about nine come early to sweep the church and arrange the benches. We pray that they will continue in their zeal and dedication.
Film show at Jumbo #2
We organized a film show at Jumbo #2 in January 2023. We showed the movie ‘Walking with Jesus’- a six series discipleship movie translated into the Konkomba Language. The movies portrayed how new converts should act with their new found faith. About 150 people watched the movie with majority being children and young adults. As the movie begun, many people came from the community to watch the movie since it was in their mother tongue. They were very excited and identified with the settings and characters in the movie. As the movie was ongoing, we were called eat supper. While we were at it, the projector went off due to low battery as the fourth series was being shown. As a result, many of the men had left when we returned. We made an altar call notwithstanding and a woman and a young man gave their lives to Christ. Many children also gave their lives to Christ. However, many of those who came forward were already coming to church. We intend to follow up on them soon.
Challenges
- The country’s financial crisis puts a lot of stress on our members, (especially those in the city) this affects their commitment and availability.
- The jungle motorbike we often use for the Jumbo #2 trip often breaks down, because it is very old, and now very expensive to maintain. This brings a lot of cost and inconveniences. We need a new one.
- We struggled during our film show at Jumbo #2 due to poor equipment.
Prayer Request
Pray for us that:
- There will be continual release of financial resources for all our building projects. There are church building projects going on at Accra, Kpassa, Jumbo, Oda and Alege.
- That the Lord will birth forth deep love and passion for God in our churches especially among the youth.
- There will be passion for soul winning in all our churches
- The new converts at Binyordando will grow in their salvation and be grafted in Christ and into His church.
- The Jumbo #2 church will grow in grace and in their commitment to Christ. Many of them are still afraid of their husbands, of ghosts and spirits. Pray that they will grow in their faith.
