The way Principalities Operate
The “prince of the air” over a region is generally identified by the primary evil attributes of the people in that region. However, there is some basic understanding about these principalities and powers that we must have if we are going to discern them correctly. In places deception is very strong; in others false appearance; yet in another; promiscuity or poverty etc.
Just as no person has only one personality trait, princes over regions will usually have multiple characteristics. For example, in the region where I live there is a strong spirit of poverty over the mountains. We have many mountains in my city! And many Christians are found of climbing those mountains and that spirit dominates them. A spirit of poverty can cause people to be underachievers. It does this by making them think less of themselves and their talents than they should. Some of our neighbors are people of extraordinary talent and intelligence, but they think and often say, they are “just poor folks” or “nothing special.” In fact, they are quite special. As we know, God gives His grace to the humble. But there is a difference between humility and an inferiority complex, which makes one an underachiever and keeps them underemployed. Some Christians tend to see themselves as “poor sinners,” rather than overcomers in Christ. This is not true of all, because some do see the truth of the Scriptures that sets them free from these yokes.
- Narrow is the way that leads to everlasting life and few there are who go on it. The partakers of the heavenly calling are not great multitudes. This is because discipline is another quality that this lesser sheepfold exhibits.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit will quicken in you the regular disciplines of fasting, praying at the watches, reading, studying and meditating on greater chunks of the scriptures, limiting what you allow into your input gates so that only that which edifies remains, and communing with the Lord.
