Praying through March

March derived its name from ancient Rome. It was then the first month of the ancient Roman calendar and dedicated to “Martius” after Mars, the Roman god of war. The first month of Spring falls between March and April. This is the period when winter is ending and the first flush of spring manifests. It is a logical point for the beginning of the year.

It is the third (3rd) month following the Gregorian calendar.

According to Greek mythology, March is named after Mars and is also identified with the Greek god of war – Eres, who exalts bloodshed and violence.

Other names for Eres are “The Avenger,” “The Slayer” and “The Curse.” The spear is his emblem; the dog and vulture are his sacred animals. In Roman mythology, Quirinus is a Sabine god of war, also identified with Mars. He was the god of the state of Rome and the father of Romus and Romulus who was the founder and first king of Rome.

The city of Rome celebrates her birthday on 21st March around the time of the Vernal Equinox.

The Jewish festival of Purim will occur this month on  Thursday 14 Adar 5772 which corresponds to  Sundown Wednesday 7th March 2012.

Feast of Purim commemorates Queen Esther and Mordecai’s victory over Haman and those who wanted to annihilate the Jewish people in the Babylonian Empire. Their story is recorded in the Book of Esther.

WERE YOU BORN IN MARCH?

v  Praise God for  bringing you into another year

v  On the day of your birth speak into your life. Declare the blessing of God upon you.

v  Create the circumstance you want the Lord to bring you into, as you celebrate another year of your life.

v  Prophesy a seed of good things concerning your life, the work of your hands, family, ministry and over kingdom citizens in your territory for this month.  As the moon waxes, prophesy that the seed you spoken into the heavens will grow and mature with the growing of the moon and will come to fruition when the moon is full.(Deut 33:14).

v  Declare the Lord’s blessing over the day of your birth and ask the Lord to utter His voice over every pronouncement that is contrary to His purpose for your life.

v  This season there are so many needs especially financially, for work, as the new year really begins to take off. Are there some areas of financial need? Are there some resources that you want released? Rather than asking Lord to provide your need change how you ask. Look at the amount that you need and then ask Him to give you enough tithe equivalent to give to Him for this month. If you are asking Him to release to you what you will give as tithe, He is faithful to provide enough for you from whichever source it pleases Him to give you, so that you can have enough left to give back to Him. If it is resources, ask Him to give you enough to bless someone else who is in need and watch Him give you enough for your need and more to give others.

v  Read Deuteronomy 26:1-15 As you release your offerings during this season, make it a time to worship the Lord. Pray over your offering; speak over it and bless yourself, remind the Lord how far He has brought you and rejoice before Him; before you can take it to the fellowship meeting, or before you give it to the person or cause you want to bless.

v  Ask God to push you into your destiny in Him and cause you to become a redeemer in your nation and generation.
