What is God’s antidote for self-righteousness? God’s antidote is, ‘I will make you a plumbline.’ Scripture: Genesis 12:3

“I will bless those who bless you…” What is God’s antidote for self-righteousness? God’s antidote is, ‘I will make you a plumbline.’ That is the last thing in the world that most will ever want to be. And I will make you a plumbline by which I will judge others. That is the opposite of self-righteousness. God is saying that for those who wholeheartedly choose Him that He will build a plumbline in our lives. How people treat us is how God will treat them. He will make us a plumbline. Now that’s not so bad unless He puts that on your kids or members of your family. We can tell that there is potentially some real discomfort that comes with God’s assignment. Becoming a plumbline is not an easy assignment because we like to prevent people from opening themselves to judgment but sometimes, we can’t.

  • Ask for great grace upon the church to enable each experience the tangibility of this favour as each obeys God’s specific instructions. (Exo 3:20-22; 12:36; Acts 4:33b).
  • Ask God to release great and mighty hidden things such as health and healing, abundance of peace and truth etc so His people will be to Him a name of joy, praise and an honour before all nations.
  • Pray that God’s children will excel in each sector of society i.e. family, the church, government, economy, education, science and technology, media, arts, sports and culture.  Pray through Jeremiah 33:3, 6-9 and Isa 45:3.
  • Ask that the Lord will gather the people into their place of inheritance
