Not only do we have to put off the old man but we have to choose to put on the new
man. Ephesians 4:23-29
When we put off the old man, we fill the void by putting on the new man and being renewed
in the spirit of our mind. This means putting on the new man who is created according to God
in righteousness and true holiness. Verses 25-29 say, “Therefore, putting away lying, ‘Let
each one of you speaks the truth with his neighbor,’ for we are members of one another. ‘Be
angry, and do not sin’: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.
Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is
good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed
out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the
hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of
redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you,
with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as
God in Christ forgave you.” Not only do we have to put off the old man but we have to
choose to put on the new man. We have to start living and acting like Jesus. This is not an
overnight change it is a process! We must do this because we are His inheritance on the earth.
No wonder the earth groans waiting for the manifestation of the Sons of God. This process of
Sonship and active growth need to move forward in earnest. Romans 8:19 states, “For the
earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.” Jesus
bought and paid for His Family by His Own Blood, the Father secured it by covenant and the
Holy Spirit guarantees it by anointing us for this very purpose, but we are the ones who must
choose it! Once we choose it we are to walk it out with perseverance!
