Baptism of Fire Causes us to run toward God, Not Run away!

Scripture: Exodus 20:18

After being shown the process and told it three times they had to prepare and get ready for it,
still, the impact of the consuming fire which fell upon the people was more than they could
take. Verse 18 says, “Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the
sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled
and stood afar off.” Notice in verse 18 they did not run toward God when the fire came – they
ran away from Him. Completing the process allows us to move toward God amid the greatest
fire of His presence. It allows us to move toward Him with confidence which is the call of
Hebrews 10, “Come boldly into the throne room.” If the Church were coming boldly into the
throne room our nation would be a much different place in which to live. Because the greater
majority does not come into the throne room we are consistently living in ever-increasing
doses of the latter part of Deuteronomy 28 as judgment consumes the land.
