Scripture: 1 Corinthians 14:21-23
First Corinthians 14:14 says that when we speak in an unknown tongue, our human
spirit is doing the praying, and our understanding is unfruitful. So, in essence, the
Holy Spirit creates that supernatural language on the inside of our spirit man. Then a
transfer of language and authority takes place from the Person of the Holy Spirit to
our human spirit. This divine transfer enables us as individual members of the Body of
Christ on this earth to pray in tongues with the authority of God, knowing that the
other two members of the Godhead will answer our prayer. If the transfer never took
place, it would be the Holy Spirit praying, not us. But with the transfer, it is literally
our human spirit praying as the Holy Spirit creates the prayer.1 Corinthians 14:21-23
says, “In the law it is written: “‘With men of other tongues and other lips I will speak to this
people; And yet, for all that, they will not hear Me,’ says the Lord. Therefore tongues are for
a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but
for those who believe. Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all
speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not
say that you are out of your mind?” This scripture could not be any clearer.
1.Tongues is a preparational prayer language for the wisdom of God that is needed in any
given situation.

2.It is for the release and the manifestation of God’s power that fits any given situation.

3.It is preparational! It is what we should do before we get in the pulpit, or face that
challenging meeting at work, or deal with that difficult teenager, or confront a political
leader.

PRAYER FOCUS
We must pray in the Spirit until God gives us what we need to impact the situation or
the individual. It is how we prepare and access the power of God.
