Perseverance Must Rise Up at A Pinnacle Point Of Discouragement, Carrying Us Through To Completion
Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-3
For a generation called to birth triplets, perseverance is required on almost every front. Any one of the three things God wants to birth in this season would guarantee a degree of warfare “nigh unto destruction!” The Scripture says, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”
Discouraged, in the Greek is ek-luo. The “ek” is the point from whence action begins and “luo” means to drop the ball or not holding on. This passage highlights ek-luo as an antonym of pros-kar-ter-eh-o. We are exhorted in Hebrews 12:3 to look at Jesus who walked out the purpose of God for His life, and although having great opportunity to turn back in the Garden of Gethsemane, continued on unto completion. Pros-kar-ter-eh-o is the opposite of ek-luo. One means to let go due to tremendous opposition, while the other means showing oneself courageous by refusing to faint. Perseverance must rise up at a pinnacle point of discouragement, carrying us through to completion. Some of us need a baptism in pros-kar-ter-eh-o.
PRAYER
Assuring the Success of a Business
Father, I commit my works (my plans and all my cares) to You, trusting them wholly to You. Since You are effectually at work in me [You cause my thoughts to become agreeable with Your will] so that my plans shall be established and succeed.
In the name of Jesus, I submit to every kind of wisdom and understanding (practical insight and prudence) which You have lavished upon me in accordance with the riches and generosity of Your gracious favor. I obey Your Word by making an honest living with my own hands so that I may be able to give to those in need. In Your strength and according to Your grace, I provide for myself and my own family. Thank You for making all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to me in abundance, so that I, having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.
Father, thank You for the ministering spirits that You have assigned to go forth to minister on my behalf and bring in trade. In Jesus’ name my light shall so shine before all men that they may see my good works and glorify You.
Thank You for the grace to remain diligent in seeking knowledge and skill in areas in which I am inexperienced. I ask You for wisdom and the ability to understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealing [in every area and relationship]. I affirm that I am faithful and committed to Your Word. My life and business are founded upon its principles. Thank You, Father, for the success of my business! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
