Don’t Allow the Giants In Your Life To Cause You To Loose Hold Of Faith.

Scripture: Numbers 13:1-3, 17-20

Verses 17-20 show the specific purpose of God and an admonition, which should help us, especially if we consider the outcome. In verses 17-20 Moses sent leaders to spy out the land of Canaan. He told them precisely the track they were to reconnoitrer as they went through the land. He said, “see what the land is like whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, few or many; whether the land is good or bad; whether the cities they inhabit are like camps or strongholds; whether the land is rich or poor; and whether there are forests there or not. Be of good courage. And bring some of the fruit of the land.” Interestingly enough the translation “Be of good courage” in the Septuagint (which is the Greek version of the Old Testament), is pros- kar-ter-eh-o. Moses has already warned them that they are going to have to use their faith, they are going to have to persevere, they must continue to call forth the vision. We know from Hebrews 12 we need pros-kar- ter-eh-o because we all have the opportunity to ek-luo or drop out. The giants in our lives often loom very large.

PRAYER –Victory Over Fear:  Father, You have not given me a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline (sound judgment). When I am struck by the arrows of fear, I will put my trust in You. Yes, I will trust Your promises. And since I trust You, what can mere man do to me? Therefore, I am not ashamed of the testimony of my Lord. I have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but I have received a spirit of adoption as a son by which I cry out, “Abba! Father!” Jesus, You delivered me, who, through fear of death, had been living all my life as a slave to constant dread. I receive the gift You left to me — peace of mind and heart! And the peace You give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. I cast away troubled thoughts and I am not afraid. I believe in God; I believe also in You. Lord, You are my light and my salvation. You protect me from danger — whom shall I fear? When evil men come to destroy me, they will stumble and fall! Yes, though a mighty army marches against me, my heart shall know no fear! I am confident that You will save me. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for bringing these things to my remembrance when I am tempted to be afraid. I will trust in my God. In the name of Jesus, I pray.
