We Must Look At Things And Reassess What Is Going On In Our Nation

Scripture: Amos 3:1-7

Amos 3:1-7 says, “Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt saying: ‘You only have I known of all the families of the earth: Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.’ Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? Will a lion roar in the forest, when He has no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing? Will a bird fall into a snare on the earth, where there is no trap for it? Will a snare spring up from the earth, if it has caught nothing at all? If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the LORD have done it? Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”

Amos was an amazing prophet and he really dealt with the issue, can two walk together without being in agreement. The answer of course is, No! They cannot. Then the question is, are we really in agreement with the Lord or are we doing our own thing? Amos makes it clear that in a covenantal, Biblical nation when there is calamity, the Lord has done it. If we accept this Biblical truth, then we must look at things and reassess what is going on in our nation. Perhaps the only way we will have true repentance in our nations is when the prophets stand up and confront the unholy structures and the Hand of God moves on them, like God’s Hand moved in Scripture. Eg: ‘Anania and Sapphira’ Then and only then we will see repentance. Can we pray for that? Can we pray that God will raise up people who have the anointed strength, courage and might to walk in that place and to confront powers? That may very well be what it is going to take!

  • We must pray and get rid of certain things that are inflicted by familiar spirits:
  • Throne-takers; rest robbers and destiny robbers. They stop you from enjoying the rest of God by getting you to strive and struggle in your own strength, whereas Jesus said “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt 11:28). For example:

2. Rejection: Since Adam and Eve hid from God in the Garden, we are all born with that misplaced sense of separation which they have passed on to every one of us. No wonder we feel rejected – and the world just piles it on. Is there anyone who has not experienced rejection in some form in their life? We are now accepted in the beloved-Jesus Christ
