For you yourselves know perfectly
Scripture: First Thessalonians 5:1-2
In First Thessalonians 5:1 and 2 we’re told, “But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.” Isn’t it interesting that in Acts 1:7 Jesus said, “‘It is not for you to know times or seasons…’” and in First Thessalonians 5, Paul writes by the Holy Spirit concerning the times and seasons, “…brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly….” How did we get from “‘…its not for you to know…’” to “…you know perfectly….”? What unusual event took place that marked the transition from “‘…its not for you to know…’” to “…you know perfectly….”? Can we identify the reason for the change?

Prayer of Blessing for the Household
Father, as the priest and head of this household, I declare and decree, “As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.” Praise be to You, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for You have blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. We reverence You and worship You in spirit and in truth.
Lord, we acknowledge and welcome the presence of Your Holy Spirit here in our home. We thank You, Father, that Your Son, Jesus, is here with us because we are gathered together in His name. Lord God, Your divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of You. You have called us by Your own glory and goodness.
As spiritual leader of this home, I declare on the authority of Your Word that my family will be mighty in the land; this generation of the upright will be blessed. Father, You delight in the prosperity of Your people; and we thank You that wealth and riches are in our house and that our righteousness endures forever. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
