Interceding And Standing in The Gap

 Genesis 18:18–33

Lot did not look beyond the circumstances of his environment and the harm that could come to his family by staying in Sodom. Staying there was another mistake. What did Abraham do? He interceded and stood in the gap for his nephew. We have another example in Scripture of Abraham praying the judgment of God. “Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” In his intercession Abraham said, “Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” Abraham, through faith and intercession, sought God for the salvation of his family and saved them from destruction. This is a worthy prayer for cities and many nations that are aimed toward depravity. For Abraham’s family, the angel of the Lord went in and lifted Lot and his family, brought them out, set them down outside and directed them to safety. God is still doing the same. We have an assignment in these last days. Let us do it! Let us prepare to initiate and fully complete that assignment!
