Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Scripture: Romans 8:32-37

A man of God testified that verse 32 was one of his favourite scriptures until the Lord retranslated it, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” The Lord spoke to him one day and said, “The same God who did not spare Jesus for His generation will not spare you for your generation.” From that moment on this verse read differently. But it certainly was consistent with verses 36 and 37 which state, “As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” How can our adversity and devastation cause us to be more than conquerors in Christ? How does that work? How does God redeem individual adversity and bring victory out of it? In Psalm 44 they looked for their own personal failures as to why God hadn’t delivered them, but they couldn’t find any, and they had to conclude it was, “…for Your sake this happened to us.” How does that work? Why do we endure such devastating adversity in God’s service? What is gained out of it that makes us “…more than conquerors….”
