Annulling The Covenant Of Death And Bringing An Overflowing
Scripture: Isaiah 28:16-19
Isaiah 28:16-19 says, “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a
foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will
not act hastily. Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet;
The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place.
Your covenant with death will be annulled, And your agreement with Sheol will not stand;
When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it. As
often as it goes out it will take you; For morning by morning it will pass over, And by day
and by night; It will be a terror just to understand the report.’”
The plumbline of this passage is the fruit of praying in tongues. That is the context and we
know context determines meaning. The word “therefore” follows the subject of tongues.
When we pray in the Spirit we drop a plumbline of righteousness and judgment, the covenant
of death is annulled and it brings an overflowing scourge that passes through and tramples
down the enemy. One of God’s paths to victory comes through tongues! And if we are
relentless in prayer, the judicial action does not stop until there is victory.
PRAYER FOCUS
We can birth a judicial flow that cleans up a nation and prepares it to be a
harvest field. Are we doing that for our nations? We need to take using our
spiritual language very seriously and come into it in a deeper measure
