Scripture: First Samuel 5:6, 9-11
The fruit of the Eli priesthood was that the ark of God was taken captive when the Philistines
conquered the Israelites. Because the hand of the Lord was not against the Philistines all the
days of Eli, they ended up capturing the ark of the Lord. But the fruit of that came in verse 6,
“But the hand of the LORD was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and He ravaged them and
struck them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territory.” The interesting part of this passage
is verses 9 through 11 which says, “And so it was, after they had carried it away, that the
hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction; and He struck the men
of the city, both small and great, and tumors broke out on them. Therefore they sent the ark of
God to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, ‘They have brought the ark of the God of
Israel to us, to kill us and our people!’ So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the
Philistines, and said, ‘Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go back to its own
place, so that it does not kill us and our people.’ For there was a deadly destruction
throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.” One of the things we have to
ask ourselves is, Why is the hand of the lord greater against Ekron than against the other
cities which housed the ark? We are told, “…the hand of God was very heavy there.” Verse
12 says, “And the men who did not die were stricken with the tumors, and the cry of the city
went up to heaven.” Ekron just happened to be the treasure city of the Philistines. So here is a
culture that is given over to mammon with the concentration of that spirit in the city of Ekron.
Isn’t it interesting that the hand of God is against Ekron in much greater measure than the
other cities where the ark was taken? This should speak volumes to us upon whom the ends
of the world have come. When the ark of God came to the treasure city of Ekron – it was all
over. What would happen if that anointing was to show up in Abuja, LAGOS LONDON or
Ibadan or Paris or New York City? What would happen to our perverse judges if the mish-
pawt of God was restored to the church? Perhaps what we see in Ekron is a pretty fair
example.
PRAYER
Command the new moon to praise GOD who created it to mark the times and seasons.
Psalm 104:19; 136:8-9; 148:3,
Command the new moon to receive instruction only from GOD and from Kingdom
citizens to fulfil only the purpose which GOD created it for in this season.
Pray that the moon shall reject the incantations, prognostications, and manipulation
from any other ungodly source.
Pray that as the new moon waxes as a witness in the sky, so shall their desire to know
the true LORD GOD grow with it.
Pray that GOD should cut off those that handle the sickle in the time of harvest
against the ignorant and cause them to flee. (Jer 50:16) At the new and crescent moon
proclaim and enforce Num 23:23 over your life, family, and the ignorant in the
Ecclesia and territory.
Pray for yourself and others around you to gain this favour from the Lord
