- Today is Tzom Tammuz – A Jewish fast day commemorating the breach of the walls of Jerusalem before the destruction of the Second Temple. It falls on the 17th day of the Hebrew month of Tammuz and marks the beginning of the three-week mourning period. On this day, Jews mourn the tragic events which led to the destruction of the Holy Temples and, subsequently, the exile — which led to the many additional persecutions Jews have suffered throughout the ages. As this day is remembered, frivolous or playful activities are not allowed.
- Pray for God’s perfect plan and purpose to prevail over all of men’s counsel over Israel. (Psalm 19:21Mat 6:10; Luke 11:2)
- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Not only does the bible speak of Jerusalem’s peace but that Jerusalem is built compact together – it is not to be divided by men’s schemes. (Psalm 122).
