Our Inheritance

Scripture: Ephesians 1:13-14

Ephesians 1:13-14 says, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”

This tells us about Jesus ‘death, burial, and resurrection purchasing an inheritance for us. That inheritance in Christ is amazing and takes several forms. In the natural, we may receive an inheritance from a relative at their death. We attend the reading of the will and discover what that inheritance was. How many people who were just informed they had an inheritance would not attend the reading of the will, especially if it was suspected to be substantial? If we were informed of a substantial inheritance, chances are we would show up for the reading of the will. It would be a priority to discover the magnitude of the inheritance. How many Christians have a Bible full of a magnanimous inheritance and yet never spend any time reading it? I am amazed at this, yet we meet the brethren doing this all the time. We can never know the fullness if we don’t read and nourish ourselves with the truths of our will written concerning us. There is an Old Testament will and a New Testament will. An inheritance is spotlighted in both. Think about the great mistake of life of having an inheritance and being informed that it was substantial and not bothering to find out about it. How many of those people are we going to meet suffering from other negative inheritance forms?

  • Pray against every negative inheritance and strengthen every positive aspect of your life.
  • Lord, we pray that \”all the mighty ones upon earth…shall come and shall declare His righteousness to a people yet to be born—that He has done it [that it is finished]!\” (Ps. 22:29, 31, AMP).
  • Lord, may I be able to say, \”I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation; behold, I will not restrain my lips, O LORD, You know. I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation\” (Ps. 40:9-10, NAS).
