Scripture: John 17:4-9
What is the emphasis Jesus brought to the Father in this High Priestly prayer? He is crying specifically for the Father to reveal Himself to all that have been given as disciples expecting they will enter into the same relationship He has had with the Father. Notice verses 7 and 8 as the center of the heart-cry over this issue, “Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.” To know God is to become a conduit for His word and His ways. Jesus, because of knowing Him intimately, became a pipeline for His word and His ways. Jesus’ expectation revealed in this prayer is for you and me to become the same kind of pipelines in our generation that He brought in His because we would know God in the same intimacy. Do we really know the Lord?
