The judgment mode concerning Israel, but the priest is doing his job
Scripture: Exodus 32:7-10
Here we find God in the judgment mode concerning Israel, but the priest is doing his job.
Moses goes before the Lord and begins to intercede. We see God responding to this
intercession in verse 10 when He says, “Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may
burn hot against them and that I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation.”
Moses, doing his job as a priest, brought a very straightforward response from the Lord. But
Moses did not want to start all over again. He was probably thinking “I’m too old for this,
forget it – we’re going on from here as a nation or we’re not going at all.” So Moses’
intercession becomes an example of a priesthood that saves the nation.
